34th Annual Science Fair
February 27 - March 2, 2017 at the FES Hall
Your child has the exciting opportunity to participate in the 33rd Annual Oakdale District Science Fair!
Student(s) will be expected to complete these projects in addition to their normal classroom activities, and their classroom teacher may provide limited support.
- To enter, your child must complete the Science Fair Application included in the 2017 Science Fair Info Packet (Spanish version).
- The deadline to return the Science Fair Application is Thursday, January 26, 2017. Return to your classroom teacher.
The Info Packet includes Science Fair Upcoming Deadlines, General Instructions and Requirements, 8 Steps to a Great Science Fair Experiment, and Events Schedule and Application.
Classroom teachers may offer limited assistance to participating individuals or groups, however, the bulk of the project is expected to be completed by the student(s). The Oakdale Joint Unified School District and area businesses will recognize student efforts and achievements in science at the Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, March 8, at Magnolia Auditorium from 7:00-8:00 p.m.
Thanks again to the generous donation of the FES Hall, teachers will have the opportunity to take their students on a walking field trip to view district science projects. Information about class visitations will be provided to each elementary site.
Student Scientist Evening: Please join us on Wednesday, March 1, 6:00-7:00 pm, to hear Oakdale students share their science projects. Students who have projects displayed will be asked to “host” their project to give visitors a firsthand account of their experimentation. Student scientist participants will be entered in a science drawing for special science prizes!
County Science Fair: 10-15 selected winning projects (K-8) from each site will be chosen to enter the Stanislaus County Science Fair, May 16-20, 2016, at the Martin Petersen Event Center, located at 720 12th Street, Modesto. Students will be notified during the OJUSD Science Fair week if their project is eligible.
Information is available at the Stanislaus County K-8 Science Fair website.
