Biologist Lynn
Hansen and Microbiologist Dr. Richard Anderson will be our resident scientists!
They will be our
science consultants as we expand our new water
awareness program From the
River to the Tap and
create
Oakdale High Science Opportunities (OHSO).
Their
science expertise will enhance our science
experiences!
Third and Fifth Chemistry and Human Anatomy Labs.

Building on the Salmon Project, 6th grade classes will be
engaged in learning about the Stanislaus Watershed and its value to
the Oakdale community. Funded by a OID. (Winter 2010)
Network of
science information and experiences for students and teachers.
Monthly meetings, guest speakers, field excursions.

Program
Description:
Students and teachers will enter a mobile planetarium and
view the constellations of the season.
Each presentation is grade level specific incorporating
language arts, social science, and science standards.

Science Fair K-8
Science Pep Talks
K-8:
Brief
introductory presentation to the science fair including sample
science fair boards, a discussion of great science fair topics, and
review of judging rubric.
Science Fair Mini
Lab 4-6:
Designed to model
how to work through a project, students will do a mini science fair
experiment, resulting in a mini science fair board to take home as
an example.
Science Fair
Mentors K-8:
Community science
mentors will be available to teachers requiring science fair
projects. These mentors will provide guidance and support as
students conduct their investigations.
Professional Development Opportunities
Scientific
opportunities will be available this year for teachers to expand
their scientific knowledge, skills, and enjoyment!

Class Labs:
The grade level class labs are also designed as an opportunity for
teachers to observe grade level science in action. Teachers use this
time to observe, participate, and collaborate to bring science alive
for their students.

Science Seminars: In collaboration with our TOP's scientists
Lynn and Richard, professional development opportunities will be
offered to teachers. Topics will include:
