Oakdale Joint Unified School District | Oakdale, CA

Welcome Back 2011-2012

I would like to welcome everyone back for the 2011-12 school-year. All of our school sites have been busy in preparation for the arrival of students. The maintenance staff in particular, has done an outstanding job deep cleaning campuses and concluding various renovation projects. Parents and guardians can help with a smooth opening of school by sending in all enrollment forms and proof of the Tdap booster shot with their students on the first day of school. Students at Oakdale High that plan to play a fall sport should also have proof of insurance and a successful physical exam.

At the District level, we are currently forming several committees to help improve our educational product for the upcoming year. Two that the community at large may be interested in are the Facilities Committee and Oakdale Community Education Council (OCEC). The Facilities Committee will be visiting all of the OJUSD properties and prioritizing future District facility projects based on the visits and identified student needs. The OCEC will be busy reviewing and revising the District Operational Plan. The OCEC will also provide the School Board with recommendations for the District’s Core Values and Mission Statement. All of this work will be done in preparation for a new Strategic Plan that will be developed at the conclusion of the revised three-year Operational Plan. Anyone interested in serving on either of these committees can contact Debbie Galvan-Benbow at the District Office.

Please be reminded that as school starts, many students will be walking and riding bikes to school. Our streets will be very busy during school hours in the morning and afternoon. I encourage everyone to take extra caution at intersections, crosswalks and bus stops. Let us all get to and from school safely!

The OJUSD has planned for another highly successful year for our students and staff. We are always striving for ways to improve and provide relevance for the education that is imparted to our students. If you have any suggestions or questions in regards to our educational process, please do not hesitate to contact me. Again, welcome back and I wish everyone a productive and prosperous 2011-12 school year.

Sincerely,

Marc Malone
Superintendent
