This is my 23rd year teaching-

Class Rules

Every child deserves the most positive educational environment possible. The following is a list of our classroom rules:

1. Listen and follow directions carefully.

2. Work quietly. Do not disturb others who are working.

3. Turn all assignments in on time.

4. Respect others. Be kind with your words and actions.

5. Respect school and personal property.

6. Work and play safely.

I will use a ticket system to reward responsibility, being prepared, and exercising self control.

Unacceptable behaviors will be handled in the following manner:

Warning (quiet, verbal reminder)

Discussion with teacher and student will be asked to

indicate misbehavior on behavior card.

5 times a behavior card is signed = loss of recess

3 cards signed and filled up = referral/detention

☺☺☺At the end of each trimester, if a student has never had to write on their behavior card that trimester, they will have the privilege of bringing snacks to school and eating in class. I will provide a healthy treat as well.

Homework

Homework is given as academic reinforcement and to help students learn the importance of responsibility. Homework is assigned daily Monday – Thursday and is due the next day unless otherwise stated. Assignments are to be written daily in a planner. Homework should be checked by a parent each evening and planners should be signed by a parent each night. A backpack is essential to tote textbooks back and forth.

Grades

Grades are given to inform you of the academic performance of your child. Grades are given as follows:

70 – 72 = C-

94 – 100 = A 68 – 69 = D+

90 – 93 = A- 63 – 67 = D

88 – 89 = B+ 60 – 62 = D-

83 – 87 = B 0 - 59 = F

80 – 82 = B-

78 – 79 = C+

73 – 77 = C

Truancies/Absences

It is very important that students come to school each day and be on time. We do so much during the school day that it is very difficult to catch up on missed teaching/lessons and assignments. Missed assignments are due the next day unless otherwise specified.

Communication

I feel it is very important for there to be communication between teacher, student and parent. I have high expectations for my students and with your participation in and out of the classroom; we will have a successful year together!!
