Attendance

Be in your seat and ready to work when the bell rings.  If you are absent, you are responsible for checking the posted calendar for the work you missed.   If you are absent and miss a quiz or test, it is your responsibility to arrange to make it up.  District policies for due dates are observed.  Late work is accepted only by special arrangements with your parent and only for partial credit.

Organization

You will keep notes in a hard cover composition book.  Returned homework and tests will be kept in science section of your main binder.  Keep all your work.  Throw nothing away until I tell you to.  I will explain the format we will use on notes in detail when we begin with notes.  You are expected to follow my instructions exactly on every assignment.

Homework

Homework is to be done at home.  I will occasionally give class time to begin homework, but never during instruction or a class assignment.  Homework is due at the beginning of the period and will be graded promptly.   Science questions must be copied or restated.  All homework will have a complete heading.

Materials

4 Pencils (pens are not permitted in science class), binder paper, pencil sharpener(2), calculator, colored pencils, composition book (one for each semester), metric ruler, glue stick, highlighter, and a pocket package of tissues (Kleenex) when you catch a cold.  It is also handy to have your own small scissors and stapler.  Abuse of any learning materials will result in confiscation and discipline.

Backpacks

You are expected to have your pencil and notebook out at the beginning of the period.  You may not access your backpack at any other time without special permission.  Backpacks will be kept under the tables at all times.  Do not pack up at the end of the period until I tell you to do so.

Website

I keep a calendar of assignments updated on my website.  The entries on this calendar should match your daily planner entries.  The website and my email shortcut are on the OJHS website.  My email address is lmetcalf@oakdale.k12.ca.us  Please email me with any question you might have at any time.

I look forward to a pleasant and productive year.
