ATTENDANCE PROCEDURES

(Important - Please Read)

The Oakdale Joint Unified School District requires that each student be present at school a minimum of 85% of the days in which he/she is enrolled for the school year.  Students who do not meet this requirement will not be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony.

ALL-DAY ABSENCES:

The parent/guardian has 2 days or 48 hours to clear any absence with either a phone call or a note.  If an absence is not cleared within 2 days or 48 hours, the student will be considered TRUANT for that day.

Students who must be absent all day, for any reason, must do one of the following:

  1. On the day of the absence, a parent or guardian may call Oakdale Junior High School (847-2294) to explain the absence.

OR

  1. The student may bring a note to the office, on the day he/she returns. This note must include date, reason for absence and signature of parent or guardian.

If you have any questions regarding “Excused” or “Unexcused” absences, please refer to the Student Conduct Code (ATTENDANCE EXPECTATIONS - Section 4, pages 27-33).

(Please note - prior approval is required for “Personal” absences.)

APPOINTMENTS:

Students that must leave school for an APPOINTMENT with a doctor or dentist should bring a note to the office before school explaining the reason.  This note must be dated and signed by a parent or guardian.  A parent or guardian must come to the school office and sign the student out before leaving campus for any reason.  Also, students that have an appointment with a doctor or dentist should still attend school the remainder of the day.

TARDIES:

Students who are TARDY to school must report to the office before going to class.  If a student is more than 30 minutes late, a parent or guardian must come to the office and sign the student in, or the student must have a note explaining the reason for the tardy (dated and signed by a parent or guardian).  Habitual tardiness will be dealt with by all teachers as per conduct code (3rd tardy per quarter will result in a detention as will all future tardies).
