Superintendent's Message

July 20, 2021

OJUSD Parents:

On behalf of the Oakdale Joint Unified School District, I am pleased to welcome our families to the 2021- 2022 school year. I hope you had an enjoyable, relaxing, and safe summer break. As I have stated previously, I am honored to be serving as Superintendent for the Oakdale Joint Unified School District.

We all know that COVID-19 altered our lives and it is incredible how we as a community persevered, and are now ready to move beyond the past and look towards a path of normalcy for the 2021-2022 school year. As you may know, the District will be returning to full-time, in-person instruction with the first day of school starting on Wednesday, August 4, 2021.  Please see your school’s website for the specific schedule. If you have questions about transportation routes, please email or call (209) 847-7003.

The current California Department of Public Health (CDPH) guidelines may change, and we will communicate pertinent health and safety updates to our families as we receive them. This year, the District has increased funding and staffing in the area of socio-emotional support to assist our students. Additionally, we have expanded our teaching staff in grades 4-12.  This will keep class sizes smaller and lower the staff-to-student ratio to increase teacher-to-student interaction. We have also expanded our time and staffing with our intervention programs. These efforts will assist with learning loss and impacts that have occurred as a result of COVID -19. We understand that these past several months have been difficult, but we are committed to returning to normal as soon as possible.

For additional information, please view our schools’ websites.

I am confident that we as a school district and community can have a positive, exciting, and fulfilling year. I wish everyone a great first day of school.
